About the owner:

We are so blessed that my Grandmother Minnie bought this property for her home. For many years she lived in the downstairs unit and rented full time the upstairs apartment. I have many fond memories of my years at her home. All of my 4 children have spent every summer from birth to adulthood in her apartment. In the early sixties she started renting 2 weeks every summer to a friends family. She would stay with my family. She would also house trade with my family and we would spend 4 weeks. This was the beginning of our summer rental experience. Minnie passed away in 1976 and I became owner. I continued renting, both to full time renters and some vacation renters. In 1986 my husband and I moved into the upstairs apartment full time. We began our weekly rental business around 1990. We built our first webpage, and the rest is history.

Why the Owner Chose Mission Beach, San Diego, CA, USA:

She always had a lake house in Washington, so it was just natural for her to be by the Bay. Plus she could live on the property with a income producing apartment. We have gone full circle we live upstairs and rent the downstairs.

The benefit for us is having everything close. Fresh air, long walks right out your front door. The view is always changing, Sailboats, wind surfers, jet packs. A constant water show. Sail Bay has it all. We even have The beautiful Catamaran Hotel a few blocks North.

This place was phenomenal!! Stayed here with my wife and three children while attending a conference in downtown, San Diego. The commute was incredibly easy using the trolley system. The location of this property is something we dream of – right on the bay beach and just a short walk to the ocean beach. The unit is stocked with everything you can imagine to make your stay comfortable and laid back. The owners are wonderful and very helpful. I would recommend this property to anyone who wants to get the best value for the money you spend to stay here. I surely hope we can return to Terry and Tom’s rental in the future.

Travelled with my wife and two sons, two and five. We decided not to rent a car and instead rented cruisers and a trailer and rode around the boardwalk on both the bay and ocean. The house is right along the boardwalk on the bay so we mainly hung out on their awesome patio to barbecue or the beach. They had plenty of beach toys and games for hours of entertainment. There were plenty of breakfast spots in the morning, make sure to head to The Swell for some great coffee. Terry and Tom were always very helpful. We were able to take public transportation downtown to the Padres game and La Jolla. Such a restful time and such an awesome spot for a vacation.

Great rental right on the bay. The house has everything you need, including a kayak, boogie boards, chairs and umbrellas. We have been renting this same home for years and love it. The proximity to the Catamaran Resort is a bonus for afternoon happy hour trips and is also a great location for friends and family staying for shorter visits while we are in town. The owners are great and do everything they can to make your stay easy and comfortable. So sad to leave and already looking forward to our stay next year!

Our family has been staying on Mission Bay for over 30 years, and this was our first time staying at Terry & Tom’s vacation home. The location was perfect- short walks to restaurants and markets, yet far away enough from the more busy areas of Pacific Beach. Hanging on the patio was our favorite, dining a la fresca with beautiful views of the bay and passersby. We were able to take the kayak out a few days as well. Being out on the water was a great way to beat the heat. The size of the property was perfect for our family, as the 3 of us were joined by 2 grandparents who comfortably stayed with us for a few days. Tom & Terry were so nice and welcoming during our stay. We hope to come back someday, as we had such a lovely, relaxing stay.

Fabulous deal! Best one I was able to find that was actually on the beach with a full view of the bay. The Keefers were fantastic hosts; helpful and friendly when you needed them and invisible when you wanted privacy. Great for families. Highly recommended and we hope to return.
